Montreal gets Paris'ed

Apparently that blonde girl from Cawli-fo-nia made a brief appearance in our neighbourhood over the weekend. Though the kleig lights fizzled out even before her artfully planned late arrival, a local paparazzo did manage to get a shot of her wearing a deep pink dress and a vapid Barbie-doll smile.

When asked what they thought of the celebrity, one Montrealer commented, "She's interesting; it's a phenomenon. She has no talent but she knows how to market herself," while another opined, "I don't know what she really does; I just learned today that she sings...It's not really that great; it's missing some beat."

Unlike these obviously jaded intellectuals, I say Paris is performing a key function for us right now. After all, every court needs its jester, just as every sinking Titanic needs its string ensemble. While the world crashes and burns, we have the little singing ninny to keep us amused and feeling brave.

Hey Paree! You go grrrl!
