So the Canadian Aid Charity Literary Award winners were announced yesterday. After spending weeks on tenterhooks waiting to see if my book "Weaverworld One: The Realie" might receive the top prize (publication by BookLand Publishing in Toronto), I discovered that not only did it not win, it made neither the short nor long lists.
I felt pretty devastated, but am picking myself up and carrying on, which is all a struggling novelist can do. Unfortunately in situations like this one does not receive comments of any kind, no hints as to why the book failed to impress, so one must go blindly on and hope for the best.
They say J.K. Rowling's first book was refused by nearly every publisher in England before a small press agreed to give it a try. Not that I dream of emulating her success, but I have faith that someday my story will find its way to appreciative readers who will love my characters as much as people love hers.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
